Texas man charged in stabbing death of 2-year-old daughter

A Southeast Texas man is jailed on a capital murder charge after his 2-year-old daughter was found stabbed to death at their home.

An Orange Police Department spokesman said the officers went to the home shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday after a neighbor had reported a child had been killed. Police Capt. Robert Enmon said the girl had been stabbed.

Yovahnis Roque, 26, has been booked into the Orange County Jail without bond. It was unclear from jail records if he has an attorney.

A Child Protective Services spokeswoman told KFDM-TV in Beaumont, Texas, that the girl was the only child living in that household and that no previous complaints had been made.

Orange is on the Texas-Louisiana border about 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.
