Deadly Shooting: Man allegedly shot 3 men after he was assaulted outside Upper Valley bar

The man who allegedly shot three men outside an Upper Valley bar, killing one of them, fired his weapon after he was assaulted outside the bar, court documents obtained by ABC-7 state.

Police identified the man shot and killed as 37-year-old Ruben Narciso Ramirez. The alleged gunman was identified as 29-year-old Josue Rojas Jr.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of Flip’s Neighborhood Bar at 1071 Country Club Road just before 11 p.m. on February 17, 2019.

Police said the bar’s manager, identified as 30-year-old Bryan Scott Melendez, escorted Rojas out of the bar after a fight.

As Rojas was being escorted out of the bar, a criminal complaint states, Ramirez and 33-year-old Emmanuel Calderon followed Rojas outside into the parking lot.

Ramirez allegedly assaulted Rojas, who according to a criminal complaint, was able to enter his vehicle and retrieve a gun from the center console. The document states Ramirez continued to assault Rojas, who then fired his gun at Ramirez.

According to the criminal complaint, Rojas then shot Calderon in the right thigh and Melendez in the right femur and right foot.

The criminal complaint does not state where Ramirez was struck by the gunfire, only that Ramirez was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. Calderon and Melendez were hospitalized, but are expected to recover, police said.

Police said Rojas fled the scene of the shooting, but later turned himself in to investigators at the Westside Regional Command Center.

Rojas was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into jail on a $60,000 bond, police said.

Police said Rojas could face additional charges once detectives finish their investigation. Rojas has not been charged for Ramirez’s death.
