One person died in a traffic incident on I-10 East early Thursday morning, according to El Paso police.

Authorities have not said if it was a crash or a pedestrian who was hit, but that one man is in custody.

ABC-7 saw officers conduct a field sobriety test on a man near the scene, then arrest him. It is unclear if that man is the suspect in custody.

Police said the person was killed at 1:40 a.m.

I-10 East is closed to traffic. Authorities are making vehicles use the downtown exit.

Drivers can use Missouri, Wyoming, Mesa, Paisano or Montana to avoid the area.
