College Hoops: NMSU men and women top UMKC to continue win streaks

Both of NMSU’s basketball teams simply refuse to lose.

The men’s team has now won 14 consecutive games and clinched the outright WAC regular season title after beating UMKC on the road Thursday, 75-55.

Meanwhile, the women’s team has now been victorious in 12 straight contests, and they have now clinched their fifth consecutive regular season conference crown.

It wasn’t as easy for them tonight, but the NMSU women’s team managed to overcome an 11-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to come away with a 68-61 win at the Pan American Center.

The two teams have now combined to win their last 26 games total, and with regular season titles behind them, they can now both gear up for the conference tournament in Las Vegas.

The NMSU men’s team continued to showcase its depth Thursday with 12 different players scoring in the win.

On the women’s side, Brooke Salas continued her dominant run in the WAC with another double-double, this one consisting of 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Gia Pack also stuffed the state sheet with 18 points and 12 boards for a double-double of her own.
