NMSU pays $26K for basketball team’s charter flight to Las Vegas

New Mexico State University is paying $26,000 for a charter flight from Las Cruces to Las Vegas for its men’s basketball team.

The team is scheduled to play in Las Vegas Thursday in its opening game of the Western Athletic Conference basketball tournament.

The team was supposed to leave Las Cruces at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. It was scheduled to fly out of El Paso to Las Vegas but that flight was canceled because of the weather.
