Las Cruces man accused of sexually assaulting victim over period of 5 years

Investigators charged a man accused of sexually assaulting his alleged victim over a period of five years, said Las Cruces Police officials.

Gilbert P. Uranga, 53, of the 1300 block of Eucalyptus Drive, is facing a charge of criminal sexual penetration.

Police said the alleged victim was incapable of consenting to sexual activities.

LCPD investigators learned the alleged sexual assaults began in 2014 and continued until January 2019.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and additional charges against Uranga are possible.

Uranga was arrested Thursday, March 14, and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he is initially being held without bond.
