Police arrest suspect in 3 armed robberies, arson case

Police officers investigating a string of armed robberies in Central El Paso arrested the suspect after a brief foot pursuit.

Jesus Bernal, 56, is facing charges in connection to three aggravated robberies and an arson investigation.

Bernal allegedly robbed the Oasis Restaurant at 3524 Pershing on March 8th, the Casares Burritos located at 6211 Airport on March 12th and the Poco Loco Discount Store at 3316 Fort Blvd on March 26th.

Police said Bernal robbed all three businesses at gunpoint. Bernal is also the suspect in an arson case investigated by the fire department, police said.

Officers spotted Bernal on the 3700 block of Montana and immediately recognized him as the suspect seen in surveillance images.

He allegedly ran away, but the officers caught Bernal on the 3700 block of La Luz.

Bernal was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for three counts of Aggravated Robbery, and one count of Evading Arrest under bonds totaling $300,750.
