Glide scooters return to El Paso, this time with City’s blessing

The Glide Your City electric scooters had a first successful weekend in Downtown El Paso and near UTEP after the roll out on Thursday.

The scooters will be in El Paso as part of a 12 month pilot program.

There is a certain area the scooters will travel. You can ride Downtown and near utep, but you cannot ride on Mesa or Paisano.

The Glide scooters are dockless, meaning there will be no designated station to pick up or return the scooters. Once you’re done with your ride, you can leave them in a safe spot on the side walk for the next person to use.

To access the scooters, you download the app and enter information like your credit card information. You can locate scooters using the app. Once you find one, you open the app on your phone and scan the scooter’s QR code with your phone in order to unlock it.

The app will charge you $1 to start and an additional 20 cents per minute.

Glide first rolled out the scooters on October 9, 2018, but the City was quick to take them off the sidewalks because allegedly Glide failed to get the scooters licensed through planning and inspections.

Now, Glide scooter are fully operation with a permit.
