EPPD: Man shot suspect who entered property armed with a knife

El Paso Police say a man in El Paso’s Lower Valley shot another man who allegedly entered his property and threatened to kill him with a knife.

Police say 23-year-old Edgar Arturo Mendoza, of the 600 Rose Kennedy, shot 40-year-old Robert Quintana, of the 5300 block of Cumbre Negra.

The shooting was reported at 10:11 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019 on the 600 block of Rose Kennedy.

Investigators with the Crimes Against Persons Unit learned there has been an ongoing feud between Mendoza’s brother and Quintana’s brother.

Quintana allegedly threatened to kill Mendoza and showed up at Mendoza’s home, police said.

Policw said Mendoza asked Quintana to leave several times, but Quintana would not leave and threatened Mendoza, police said.

“The victim, fearing for his safety and that of his family. shot the offender. The offender was transported to a local hospital where he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit,” police said.
