Club Amrica beats FC Jurez in Copa MX Final

FC Juárez came painfully close to completing their run through the 2019 Copa MX Clausura competition, but they fell short in the final in a 1-0 loss against Club America.

Los Bravos were looking to become the first team from outside Mexico’s top division (Liga MX) to hoist the trophy since 2012.

However, they were unable to find the back of the net at home against perennial powerhouse America.

Victor Emanuel Aguilera provided the lone goal on the evening on a penalty kick in the 40th minute.

Henry Martín won that penalty kick two minutes earlier. While chasing a long pass into the box, he appeared to take a kick to the stomach area from Christian Perez and immediately went down.

Though America has had plenty of success in other competitions, they had not won this title in 45 years since the competition was rebooted in 2012 (their last title came in 1973-74). Nonetheless, their six wins overall in this competition is the most of any team.
