17 migrants found in ‘sweltering’ U-Haul truck near Deming

U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered 17 migrants in the cargo area of a U-Haul truck near Deming earlier this week.

Agents said they found footprints leading from the border to Highway 9, where a U-Haul truck had been seen.

The agents pulled the truck over and found 17 migrants inside the “sweltering” cargo area. The truck had just a small 2-inch opening at the rear door for ventilation.

Last week the Border Patrol said 88 migrants were taken into custody in the New Mexico’s boot-heel. It indicated most of those migrants were from Central America.
