Woman jumps in front of car along…

A pedestrian was struck and later died over the weekend after El Paso police say she walked out in front of a car in an apparent case of suicide.

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday along Interstate 10 west near Porfirio Diaz Street. Police shut down the westbound interstate at the downtown exit for much of Saturday morning to investigate.

Police on Monday identified the woman as 21-year-old Jasmin Maria Truong and said she died of her injuries at University Medical Center.

Investigators said they had determined that “Truong walked into oncoming traffic on the interstate.”

The driver of the car, 18-year old Raul Marin IV of Santa Teresa, New Mexico, will not face any charges. Police said Marin and his passengers rendered first aid to Truong after she was hit.
