UTEP takes down North Carolina A&T in opening round of Sun Bowl Invitational

The last time the UTEP Miners won the Weststar Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational was back in 2014.

Monday night, the Miners made a statement in the opening round of this year's tournament by defeating North Carolina A&T by a final score of 72-54.

UTEP was in full control of the game going into the half with a 37-29 lead.

UTEP's Souley Boom led the way in scoring for the Miners with 26 points.

The Miners will face the UC Irvine Anteaters in the title game of the tournament on Tuesday.

UC Irvine defeated Kent State, 74-68 in the afternoon game at the Don Haskins Center.
