Pedestrian struck by car in east El Paso; victim in critical condition

UPDATE - Police confirmed in a press release that the pedestrian hit by a car was Alonso Carlos Chacon, 36, died yesterday on Christmas Eve.

This is the 69th fatality this year compared to 68 at the same time in 2018.

EL PASO, Texas -- Special Traffic Investigators and Pebble Hills Regional Command patrol officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on 8000 Gateway East, near Lafayette.

This happened around 9:26 p.m last night.

Police say a 36-year-old Hispanic male crossing Gateway East in a non-designated crossing location when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound. The man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.
