Suspect accused of crashing into Northeast El Paso home, killing elderly woman now charged with murder

EL PASO, Texas - An El Paso woman is now facing murder charges after she allegedly drove drunk and crashed into a Northeast El Paso home a few days before Christmas.

Margaret Cantu was originally booked on charges for driving under the influence and intoxication assault. El Paso police say Cantu is now facing murder charges.

87-year-old Ruriko Denison was asleep in her room when Cantu allegedly crashed into the house. Denison suffered life-threatening injuries, but died several days later at UMC.

According to court documents obtained by the ABC-7 I-team, Cantu has four previous DWI convictions.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission tells ABC-7 they are investigating the source of Cantu's alcohol that night.

The organization says they are investigating Three Pints Pub. That's located at the 10700 block of North Gateway Boulevard.
