Community Champions: Cathedral swim team finishes 2nd at state competition

San Antonio, TX For the second straight year the Cathedral swim team came very close to winning a state title.

Friday, at the TAPPS State Swim Meet in San Antonio, Cathedral finished in second place.

It was the second straight year that the Irish took second at the state meet.

The goal for them headed into the season was to bring back another state title to Cathedral.

The Irish had won 29 straight state titles in swimming before finishing in second place at the state meet in 2019.

Even though Cathedral will have to wait another year to try and win a state title, the team still had a stellar season.

ABC-7 spoke with the Cathedral swim team prior to Friday's state title swim meet in San Antonio.

For their efforts this season, the Cathedral swim team was named Community Champions, an ABC-7 segment sponsored by Albertsons and the El Paso Community Foundation.
