Funeral services held for Guillermo ‘Memo’ Garcia, 23rd victim of the Aug. 3 Walmart shooting

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The 23rd victim of the Aug. 3 Walmart shooting was laid to rest Monday night.

Guillermo 'Memo' Garcia died in April, nearly nine months after the shooting.

He underwent dozens of surgeries at Del Sol Medical Center, and died from complications of his wounds.

Affectionately known as "Tank", Garcia leaves behind a wife and two young children.

His funeral took place at the Perches Funeral Home at 2280 Joe Battle Blvd., where due to coronavirus restrictions only 10 people were allowed inside the funeral at a time. A long line waited to say their goodbyes.

Memo's wife, Jessica, thanked the community for its support. She also wanted to thanl Perches funeral home, Abundant Living Faith Center, Operation H.O.P.E., and Emmanella’s Secret Garden for help with the funeral arrangements.
