El Paso man convicted of killing girlfriend sentenced to 47 years in prison
EL PASO, Texas -- A man convicted of killing his then 18-year-old girlfriend was sentenced Tuesday to 47 years in prison.
Jose Casas was found guilty on June 9 of shooting and killing Santana Castro.
Santana's brother, Raymond, told jurors that on the day of the murder, he found his sister lying motionless on her bedroom floor.
Raymond says earlier, the trio smoked marijuana in Casas' car. He said, looking back now on that moment, "the energy seemed a bit off."
