Two dead and multiple others injured in rollover crash in Santa Teresa; driver arrested

UPDATE 2:55 p.m.: Sunland Park officials are confirming the driver of the car that rolled over has been arrested.

The Mexican Consulate says of the ten injured in the rollover, nine are Mexican nationals. Consulate representatives are at the hospital with the injured to provide assistance.

SANTA TERESA, New Mexico- Law enforcement officials and Border Patrol are responding to a single vehicle rollover crash involving 12 people.

Police officials say that Border Patrol was pursuing an SUV when the SUV crashed.

Two people were pronounced dead on scene, two others were critically injured and eight individuals were transported with minor injuries.

The call came in at 4:45 a.m. this morning. Doña Ana Sheriff's Office, Border Patrol, New Mexico State Police and Anthony Fire are all responding.

Sunland Park Fire Department Chief Daniel Medrano said it is possible that officials have 2 individuals in custody. 

The rollover is under investigation by New Mexico State Police.

No ages or genders have been given at this time.
