Man jailed for assault after allegedly wrestling taser from police, firing at them

EL PASO, Texas -- A man struck a police officer in the face with a taser after taking it from one of two officers that were attempting to detain the man Monday.

27 –year old Angel Eduardo Zamora was seen littering by the two officers assigned to the Central Regional Command’s Metro unit.

Zamora fled from the officers when they approached him, and when the officers caught up to them there was a struggle in which Zamora grabbed the taser and assaulted the officers before fleeing the scene.

Other responding officers located Zamora hiding out inside a building at the 600 block of Oregon and arrested him.

Zamora is facing multiple charges including assault on a peace officer, evading and resisting arrest, and taking a weapon from a peace officer.

The total bonds for Zamora amount to $80,000.
