New mural unveiled at Providence Children’s Hospital

EL PASO, Texas- The Providence Children’s Hospital unveiled a new mural that will grace the walls of their Ronald McDonald House.

Creative Kids a non-profit that teaches and creates art with youth that are there for pediatric oncology, at risk or are disconnected, painted the mural.

It is called, “Mystical Desert” and was dedicated to Marian Azar’s memory.

After Azar’s death in December of 2022, the family created a fund and then worked with the El Paso Community Foundation to find a way to give back.

Daughter of Azar, Chana Azar Burton said, “My mom would just be thrilled. Primarily because of the joy it would bring to the children who are really struggling with a really tough disease.”

CEO of Providence Hospital, Robbert Anderson added, “The way it's going to tie into the El Paso community, I think the children are going to love it the families are going to love it too. It’s just a very welcoming, smiling environment.”

The mural will coincide with a three dimensional replica that will be placed in the El Paso Children’s Science Museum when it is constructed in 2023.
