Village of Vinton allows Municipal Judge appointment to expire

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Municipal Judge Roger Rodriguez's appointment has expired in the Village of Vinton, according to a report first published by KTEP.

The article from KTEP reported that Rodriguez appeared at the village's Jan. 17th council meeting.

Rodriguez asked to be allowed "to continue to serve this community."

Family members of a victim of the Walmart shooting on Aug. 3, 2019, accused Rodriguez of threatening them while acting as a representative of the D.A.'s office.

KVIA has previously reported that Rodriguez has been reprimanded twice by the state: once in 2007 and again in 2012.

The position of Municipal Judge on the Village of Vinton's website is now listed as "vacant."
