Border Patrol agent involved in Monday’s shooting

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say a Border Patrol agent was involved in a shooting near the border wall.

The shooting happened Monday night just before 9 p.m.

ABC-7 was there, along with a significant law enforcement presence.

According to CBP, the agent was responding to an illegal entry made by several individuals at Midway Drive and Alameda.

One person was shot and taken to the hospital. CBP did not indicate the person's gender or the extent of their injuries.

The incident is being investigated by the FBI and the CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility.
