Eighth annual Las Cruces International Film Festival to honor ‘Breaking Bad’ star Giancarlo Esposito

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) - The 8th Annual Las Cruces Film Festival (LCIFF) is captivating audiences from around the world this week, with an extra dose of excitement from the appearance of Giancarlo Esposito, the acclaimed actor best known for his role as Gustavo "Gus" Fring in the hit series Breaking Bad, and as Moff Gideon in the Disney Star Wars series The Mandalorian.

The five-day festival, held from April 12 to April 16, is showcasing a diverse array of films from both emerging and established filmmakers. This year, over 100 films were screened at various venues across Las Cruces, attracting thousands of film enthusiasts from around the world.

LCIFF will celebrate the outstanding achievements of Giancarlo Esposito. The award-winning actor will receive the outstanding achievement in Entertainment Award in recognition of his diverse body of work and its contribution to New Mexico's film industry.

Ross Marks, founder and executive director of LCIFF, expressed his excitement for the actor's participation, stating that Esposito's values and work ethic reflect Las Cruces. Marks also noted that the festival serves as an opportunity for students in the Creative Media Institute at New Mexico State University to gain hands-on experience in the film industry, adding that Esposito will be speaking to students about his career.

Esposito will be present to accept his award and will screen a film at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, at the Allen Theatres Cineport. Following the screening, he will host a Q&A session with the audience. Esposito is currently involved in several projects, including Netflix's heist drama series "Kaleidoscope," which debuts in January.

Tickets for the festival are available at the LCIFF website (www.lascrucesfilmfest.com)and range from $25 for a day pass to $150 for VIP passes. The festival will also include screenings of award-winning films, panel discussions, and a VIP party where Esposito will receive his award.
