Local El Paso artist achieves his creative goals

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One young man is using the power of his imagination to enter the workforce with a little coaching from a local printing company.

Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More provided James Smelser, a young man with autism, the opportunity to demonstrate that creativity knows no boundaries.

“It's a drive to be more creative. I want to create things that other people can enjoy”, said Smelser.

Smelser attributes  part of his success at Big Frog to the education he has received.

"I study animation for three years at New Mexico State University. So I'm very familiar with the whole production pipeline and how to keep up with deadlines."

Through his strong work ethic, Smelser has proved his designs can lead him to accomplish great things in the future.

"I'm very grateful that the Texas Work Commission contacted me because I was able to give James the opportunity to learn here because I know there's not a lot of businesses that are willing to give, you know, this individual that that opportunity," said Rodriguez, owner of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More.

Rodriguez also says James' kindness, big heart, and determination to learn are some things that can inspire others to accomplish great things.
