Fort Bliss soldier dies in motorcycle crash

Update: Officials at Fort Bliss confirmed that a 1st Armored Division Solider died in the crash. They released the following statement to ABC-7:

“The Fort Bliss Directorate of Emergency Services and El Paso Police Department are investigating the death of a 1st Armored Division Soldier due to an apparent motorcycle accident near the Master Sgt. Pena Gate. The Soldier’s name will not be released until their next of kin has been notified. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Soldier’s family and unit during this difficult time.”

Update: The El Paso Police Department said the collision will be handled by Fort Bliss.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Sergeant Major Boulevard and Airport rd. have been closed off due to a deadly crash involving a motorcycle.

Police say the crash happened near Spur 601 before 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Police dispatch confirmed the crash is deadly.
