‘Suspicious Death’ being investigated after officials initially respond to crash in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- A "suspicious death" is now being investigated by the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office after deputies initially responded to a "traffic incident" between mile markers 2 and 4 of NM185.

A spokesperson for the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office told ABC-7 that deputies were initially dispatched to the crash Saturday morning.

The spokesperson said sometime after deputies arrived, the crash investigation changed into a suspicious death investigation.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation reported the area between the mile markers of NM185 were closed as deputies investigated the area around 9:24 a.m.

NMDOT had confirmed as of 7:08 p.m. that the closed area between mile marker's 2 and 4 of NM185 has been reopened.
