Hiker in need of assistance rescued by DPS helicopter in West El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Fire Department confirmed to ABC-7 that one hiker was rescued early Monday afternoon after needing assistance on the Franklin Mountains.

Officials say that the hiker was on the One Thousand Step trail when they called for help around 1:34 p.m.

The El Paso Fire Department says that the hiker was rescued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter.

Officials did not release any information regarding the condition of the hiker.

ABC-7 has reached out to Texas DPS for more information on the rescue.
