Labor Day weekend travelers face the highest gas prices EVER for this time of year

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — The American Automobile Association (AAA) reported the nation's highest gas prices ever recorded for this time of year. The national average is $4.14 a gallon, topping the last record set which was Labor Day in 2012, when the national average reached $3.82.

Labor Day Weekend typically increases travel, with traffic heavily peaking on Thursday, Friday, and Monday. However, travel isn't the only thing increasing; according to AAA, so are gas prices.

These are the prices El Paso is averaging, according to AAA.

"You know, people are struggling in this country. Help the little man out." Mike Cena, an expediter, told ABC-7, "What is our other option? Walk? Some people don't even have that luxury of walking."
