Minerpalooza celebrates the new school year, as UTEP Football returns Saturday

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has announced the return of its annual music and entertainment event, Minerpalooza.

The free event is on Friday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 11:45 p.m., takes place on Centennial Plaza, and organizers say it features a lineup that reflects the diverse sounds and cultural influences of the Borderland region.

“Something especially exciting about this year’s lineup is the connection to El Paso and the Borderland,” said Stephanie Lawler, assistant director of the Student Engagement and Leadership Center. “We really wanted the entertainment to feel representative of our community while still giving attendees a mix of sounds, styles and performances throughout the event.”

Officials with UTEP say Minerpalooza serves as one of the primary fundraising events each year for student organizations at UTEP. Proceeds from ticketed games and activities help support student groups and their annual initiatives.

Organizers say that this will be an event for not just Miners but also the community and attendees of all ages are welcome as UTEP will bring back its family friendly area, Pete's Playground.
