Dogs made a splash at Canine Fiesta in Ascarate Park Pool

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Dogs and their owners were invited to the Ascarate Park Pool for Canine Fiesta, an event where organizers say it offered a way for both four-legged and two-legged guests to cool off.

The El Paso County Sports and Aquatic Manager, Andrea Schiechl, said this event signals the start of the closing of the pool for the summer and gives the community a chance to enjoy the pool with their furry friends before the season ends.

Those who attended the event paid a fee of $2 for their companions to swim and provided documentation of up to date shots/vaccinees. Owners were able to join and swim for free.

Organizers say individuals from Animal Services also brought some dogs that were available for adoption and provided information to guests regarding services.

Schiechl also mentioned that there will be more days when owners can bring their dogs to swim until the end of the season.

Pup Swim days will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from September 10 through September 27.

·       Wednesdays: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

·       Saturdays: 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
