Man arrested in connection with April robbery in Socorro
Socorro, Texas (KVIA) -- The Socorro Police Department arrested 22-year-old Christopher Aaron Olivas on Sept. 18, in connection with an aggravated robbery that occurred on April 24, 2026.
On April 24, 2026, at approximately 12:23 a.m., officers with the Socorro Police Department were dispatched to Murphy USA, on the 10300 block of Alameda, for a report of an aggravated robbery.
During the incident, police say a male suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the cash register. The employee complied with the suspect's demands, and the suspect fled the business in a black two-door Mercedes-Benz.
The incident was previously featured as the Crime of the Week by Crime Stoppers of El Paso. Following the feature, police say investigators received information from the public that assisted in furthering the investigation and identifying the suspect.
As the investigation progressed, detectives with the Socorro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID), working alongside the Texas Rangers, identified Christopher Aaron Olivas as the suspect responsible for the robbery.
An arrest warrant was later obtained for Olivas, with bond set at $75,000.
On September 18, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Socorro Police Department Street Crime Unit (SCU), with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas Rangers, located Olivas at a construction site in the 1500 block of Michelangelo Drive in East El Paso.
Officials say Olivas was taken into custody without incident.
