City of Socorro opens emergency evacuation shelters in anticipation of weather

SOCORRO, Texas (KVIA) -- The City of Socorro will open three Emergency Evacuation Shelters Monday at 3:00 PM for residents who wish to self-evacuate ahead of potential flooding or severe weather conditions.

The City of Socorro says this is a precautionary measure and residents do not need to wait for an evacuation order to seek shelter.

Officials say that if you feel unsafe in your home or believe your neighborhood or property may become inaccessible due to flooding, we encourage you to Plan While You Can and relocate before conditions worsen.
