Police say man dies after single-vehicle crash in Northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Police Department says 72-year-old Jose Arpero Ramos is the man who died after a crash in Northeast El Paso.

According to EPPD, officers were called out to a single motor vehicle crash Saturday evening around 8:04 p.m. at the 9100 block of Railroad, close to the McCombs, Railroad intersection. The Special Traffic Investigation Unit was called out to take over the investigation.

Police investigation revealed Ramos was traveling northbound on Railroad when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the solid yellow line at the intersection of Railroad and McCombs, striking two yellow barriers.

Police say the vehicle came to a rest after hitting a guardrail head-on; Ramos was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials say this is the 46th traffic fatality in the city of El Paso, compared to 46 at this same time last year.
