CHAPARRAL, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Evaristo Mora, 27, faces charges for allegedly selling 233.79 grams of methamphetamine and 2,000 fentanyl pills to an undercover agent, according to court documents.

Documents say that beginning in early 2026, Lac Cruces/Dona Ana County Metro Narcotics and the FBI have had an ongoing investigation into a drug trafficking organization (DTO) operating from Chihuahua, Mexico, to El Paso, Texas, and southern New Mexico, involved in the distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl pills.

In early June 2026, court documents say that an undercover agent was in contact with an individual, later identified as Mora, to arrange the purchase of methamphetamine and fentanyl pills. According to the documents, Mora provided the undercover agent with a location in Chaparral.

On or around June 3, 2026, documents say that the undercover agent told Mora they were outside the address provided to them. Court documents say that agents were aware that the address was associated with Mora.

According to court documents, when the undercover agent met Mora, Mora was wearing a black ballistic plate carrier and had a tan colored handgun tucked into a front pouch of the carrier.

The undercover agent followed Mora to another location on the property, and that's where Mora allegedly filled a bag of methamphetamine and gave it to the undercover agent. Court documents say that Mora also provided two brown taped packages containing 2,000 fentanyl pills, after some negotiating.

Documents say the undercover agent paid Mora $2,200 of official government funds in exchange for the items and left the area. Documents also stated that Mora was confirmed to be the individual who sold the drugs after several verifications.

The drug evidence was sent for testing and resulted in a total net weight of 233.79 grams of pure methamphetamine, and the pills provided had a total net weight of 215.07 grams of fentanyl.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by ABC-7, Mora was arrested on October 1, and jail records say he is being held with no bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.

Mora has been charged with Distribution of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), Distribution of a controlled substance (fentanyl), Conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, and Possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
