Las Cruces Warriors Zumba kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month events

KVIA

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA)  --  Breast Cancer Awareness Month is bringing several community events to Las Cruces this October, including the Cancer Warriors Zumbathon, an ’80s-themed fitness fundraiser Saturday, October 3rd, at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum.

The Zumbathon event, organized by Araseli Granillo, brought local Zumba instructors and community members together to raise funds, dance, work out, and support Cancer Warriors of Las Cruces.

Warriors Zumba is one of several events planned throughout the month. The lineup includes Candles for Hope on Oct. 6 at Memorial Medical Center, Bingo for Boobs on Oct. 7 at The Game Sports Bar & Grill, the Power of Pink ’80s Party on Oct. 8 at the Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, and the Cancer Warriors 5K & 1K Walk on Oct. 10 at Burrell College of Health Sciences.

Organizers say the variety of events gives people different ways to get involved and support local cancer warriors. For survivors and their families, the events are also an opportunity to connect with others who understand the impact of cancer. Organizers are encouraging Las Cruces residents to take part throughout October, whether by attending an event, donating, or simply showing support for someone affected by cancer.

More information on events throughout the month can be found on the Cancer Warriors Facebook Page.
