ABC-7 speaks with Republican Gregg Hull in New Mexico governor’s race

(KVIA) -- With Election Day less than a month away, ABC-7 is continuing to bring voters conversations with the candidates seeking to represent them.

In the race for New Mexico governor, former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, the Democratic nominee, is facing former Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull, the Republican nominee.

ABC-7 originally invited both campaigns to participate in an in-studio debate focused on issues important to voters in Southern New Mexico and the Borderland.

Hull's campaign agreed to fly in and come to our KVIA studio for the debate.

Haaland's campaign instead proposed participating in a joint statewide debate in Albuquerque with several other New Mexico news organizations.

ABC-7 followed up with Haaland's campaign, asking her to consider appearing at KVIA's studio and noting voters in Southern New Mexico and the Borderland face issues that can differ from those in other parts of the state.

ABC-7 has not received a response to that request.

Marcel Clarke sat down with Hull last week for a one-on-one interview covering several issues facing New Mexico, including the development of data centers in the state.
