EPCC hosts sensory-friendly Trunk or Treat event

EPCC

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- El Paso Community College’s (EPCC) Student Parent Resource Center (SPRC), the Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD), among others, hosted a Sensory-Friendly Trunk or Treat event on Saturday.

The free, family-friendly event was held on October 17, 2026, at the EPCC Valle Verde Campus, where families and children from the community could enjoy the Halloween season in a safe, welcoming, and sensory-friendly environment.

“It’s so important because many children need space to feel free, sometimes they need more support because of their disabilities, and here they can feel they belong to a group, which is so important,” EPCC CSD Assistant Director Alejandra Mendoza said.

In addition to vehicles being covered with Halloween decorations offering candy and treats, families were provided with resources and sensory-friendly games that organizers say encouraged creativity and engagement.

“This event created a fun and inclusive space where every child could enjoy Halloween,” EPCC SPRC Manager John Estrada said. “We’re proud to partner with The Arc of El Paso, Mike Dee, and community organizations to make experiences like this possible.”
