Country music star Gretchen Wilson gets kicked out of Las Cruces hotel after employees call 911

Country music star Gretchen Wilson is calling on Las Cruces to boycott Hotel Encanto after she was asked to leave early Sunday morning.

After performing at the Las Cruces Country Music Festival, she tweeted:

“Was a guest in Las Cruces NM yest & had a blast w/ the people there. However, you should all band together to put Hotel Encanto out of business. Had to wait 2 hrs for breakfast. Then they sent police to kick me out in the middle of the night for no reason. I complied. Home early.”

In a 911 call obtained by ABC-7, an employee said she did not comply with hotel rules.

“We went up there multiple times in the past half hour,” the employee said in the 911 audio. “So, then I went up there and she said that she was a celebrity, but I forgot to get her name. Apparently, Gretchen something. She just played in the Country Music Festival.”

A police spokesman confirmed officers responded at about 3:30 a.m. However, they say she left on her own.

“The individuals, the guests of the hotel voluntarily decided to leave,” said Dan Trujillo, the spokesman for the police department. “From what I understand, (it was) Ms. Wilson and/or her entourage.”

The manager told the dispatcher that Wilson was not playing music, she was just “being super loud.”

“Her words (were) ‘I paid for the room – I could care less what people think,'” the employee said.

ABC-7 made multiple attempts to reach Wilson’s team, but no one commented on her behalf.

“Even though she’s a celebrity, she still has to be treated as every other guest,” the employee said in the call.
