Las Cruces woman jailed without bond for allegedly head-butting and stabbing husband during argument

A Las Cruces woman was jailed Friday morning on charges she stabbed her husband repeatedly during an argument that got out of control.

Michelle Scott, 41, was being held without bond in the Dona Ana County Detention Center for felony aggravated battery.

Police said Scott’s husband was stabbed multiple times in his torso, back and neck – but none of the wounds were life-threatening.

“Scott and her husband began arguing sometime during the night and, at some point, it escalated and became physical,” Las Cruce police spokesman Dan Trujillo explained. “Scott is accused of head-butting her husband before arming herself with a blunt-tip knife and attacking him.”

Scott’s husband managed to lock himself in a room of the couple’s home on Avenida de Mesilla and call 911 after the attack, according to police.

“Scott also called 911, said she was armed with a knife and indicated she was not sure if she stabbed her husband,” Trujillo said, adding that when officers arrived, they found Scott’s husband had been stabbed.
