Man murdered in Lower Valley apartment complex, police say

Update: El Paso Police say that the victim, 28-year-old Brian Valentin Almanza, was murdered. A person went to check up on him at the apartment and found him dead.

The Crimes Against Persons unit is now investigating.

No one has been arrested.

Police are still looking for information. Anyone with knowledge of what happened is asked to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso.

This is the 22 homicide of the year, compared to 17 this time last year, according to police officials.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Police Department is investigating a homicide in El Paso's Lower Valley.

Police said it happened in 9133 Kernel Circle. Crimes Against Persons continue to investigate the scene.

A spokesperson with the El Paso Police Department said a Hispanic man was found dead inside an apartment around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

First responders were called out to the San Montego Apartments to conduct a welfare check when they discovered the body.

It is too early to determine the cause of death, but police confirmed violence was involved.

Sgt. Robert Gomez with the El Paso Police Department said a motive has not yet been determined.

No arrests have been made and there are no suspects at this time.

But police said there is no danger to the community. Additionally, detectives are canvassing the area.
