22-year-old woman charged with intoxicated manslaughter in Northeast El Paso crash

Update: New court documents obtained by ABC-7 reveal Lopez allegedly told officers she had been driving home from Pockets (a bar on Dyer) at the time of the crash.

Officers reported smelling alcohol on Lopez's person and seeing her throw up, according to the court documents.


Update (February 13, 2024): Special Traffic Investigators say 22-year-old Nadean Lopez was driving south on the 8500 block of Dyer when she allegedly rear ended a car stopped at a red light.

The force of the collision slammed the stopped car into another car that was traveling through the intersection. El Paso Police officials identified the driver of the stopped car as 50-year-old John Cryan. He died at the scene, according to police officials.

Lopez and the driver of the second car walked away from the crash uninjured. Officers arrested Lopez and charged her with intoxication manslaughter. They booked her into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $205,000 bond.

Police say this is the 8th traffic death of the year, compared to 12 this time last year.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A multi-vehicle crash leads to serious injuries early Sunday morning. 

It happened at 8409 Dyer street, that's in northeast El Paso.

According to police three vehicles were involved in the crash, Special Traffic Investigators are responding to the scene. 

Fire officials said the call came in just after 12:30 a.m.

Police did not say how many people sustained injuries.
