Driver ejected from car, hit by passing vehicle on Joe Battle

Update (January 2, 2025): Special Traffic Investigators say that D Aundre Kahlil Malik Laffoon was traveling "at a high rate of speed" along Loop 375 when he hit the back of another car that was also driving on the highway. Investigators say Laffoon lost control and veered off the road. Officials say his car rolled over and he flew out. Another car was traveling on Joe Battle and hit Laffoon.

"A contributing factor in the collision is speed and pedestrian in the roadway," police officials say.

Investigators are still looking into the death. This is the first traffic fatality of 2025, compared with one at this time last year.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person is dead after a crash in East El Paso early this morning, according to the El Paso Police Department.

It happened at the intersection of Joe Battle Blvd. and Vista Del Sol Dr. in East El Paso.

Police say the call came in just before 4 a.m. but have not yet released more information.
