EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police are releasing new details on the family violence call that resulted in an officer-involved shooting last month.

The incident happened the evening of June 14, 2025 on the 9500 block of North Loop. Police officials say that officers arrived at the house to find Victor Enrique Mariscal armed with two knives.

"During the confrontation, officers deployed a Taser and subsequently discharged their firearms," a spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department explained. "Mariscal was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later released. He was then booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility."

Officials did not release details on Mariscal's bond. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault against a public servant, and assault causing bodily injury/family violence.

Update (June 16, 2025): El Paso Police officers were involved in a shooting on the 9500 block of North Loop Saturday evening.

Officers received reports of a family violence incident and responded before 7:30 PM. Police officials say that when the officers arrived, they encountered a 32-year-old man armed with two knives.

Police officials say the man confronted a family member and a seven-year veteran of the El Paso Police Department. That is when officials say an eight-month veteran of the force fired his gun at the man. The man was injured and received medical treatment at an area hospital. Officials say that no officers were injured in the incident.

Crimes Against Persons detectives, the Internal Affairs Shooting Review Team, and the Texas Rangers are all looking into the incident.

Officials say they are anticipating criminal charges will be filed against the man once he is released from the hospital.
