New Details: Man stabbed 20-25 times in South-Central El Paso convenience store
Update (November 13, 2025): ABC-7 has obtained court documents providing new details about the stabbing at the South-Central El Paso convenience store on Tuesday.
The court documents state that officers arrived at the gas station to find Juan Francisco Gomez dead next to the gas pumps.
The documents state that the suspect, Manuel Ivan Gutierrez, parked his truck in front of the store at 9:32 a.m. He then walked inside, bought something, and walked back outside, investigators say.
Gomez arrived soon after and walked inside of the store. Gutierrez followed him back inside and waited for Gomez to check out. Court documents state that when Gomez was going to leave, Gutierrez got out a large knife and allegedly stabbed Gomez. Gomez fell to the ground while Gutierrez continued to allegedly stab him, court documents state. The encounter was captured on the store's surveillance cameras, police say. Investigators say Gomez was stabbed 20 to 25 times.
Gutierrez walked away from the gas station after the alleged attack. Police were able to run the plates on his truck and track him down to his house, where they arrested him and charged him with Gomez's murder.
Court documents did not provide a motive for the alleged attack.
Update (November 12, 2025): El Paso Police just identified the man who died as Juan Francisco Gomez, 44. Manuel Ivan Gutierrez, 30, is charged with Gomez's murder.
Police say that Gomez was walking out of the convenience store when Gutierrez stabbed him. Gutierrez then ran away. Officers found him soon after.

Police officials have not explained Gutierrez's motive.
Gutierrez is facing a murder charge. The district judge will set his bond soon.
Update (1:22 PM): El Paso Police officials say that a man in his 40s is dead after the stabbing.
Investigators say the stabbing happened after a dispute started inside a convenience store on Alameda Avenue.
Police have not yet put out any information about a possible arrest. The suspect is an unidentified Hispanic male.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police are at the scene of a stabbing in South-Central El Paso right now.
The stabbing happened on the 5600 block of Alameda Avenue, near the intersection with East Paisano Drive.
Officers were called out on reports of a stabbing at 9:40 AM.
Emergency crews rushed one person to the hospital. Police have not released information on the person's condition.
