Man dies after trying to climb semi's ladder in Central El Paso: Police

UPDATE (4:26 p.m.): According to the El Paso Police Department, a Peterbilt 18-wheeler truck hit a man trying to climb its ladder.

EPPD said it happened at the 1200 block of Myrtle Avenue, which is near the Opportunity Center for the Homeless.

While the truck drove west, 43-year-old Samuel Guzman tried to climb the truck's ladder for "unknown reasons," police said. Guzman fell, and the truck's rear tires hit him.

EPPD said Guzman died to his injuries. The incident marked the 43rd traffic death this year compared to 42 at this time last year.

Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person died after a crash involving a person and a semi, according to the El Paso Police Department. It happened Monday around 7:31 a.m. at Noble Street and Myrtle Avenue.

EPPD's Special Traffic Investigations unit is now investigating the crash.
