4 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in fresh West Bank violence. Clashes erupt in flashpoint town
JERUSALEM (AP) — Palestinian health officials say four Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in the northern West Bank. The Israeli military said Thursday that its troops carried out a raid in the Tulkarem refugee camp. It said that soldiers came under fire and that troops shot Palestinian gunmen. Palestinian officials said two militants were killed while Israel said five troops were wounded. Israeli forces shot a Palestinian gunman in the northern West Bank later in the day after he opened fire at an Israeli vehicle. Israeli settlers entered the area early Friday, triggering clashes with Palestinian residents. Palestinian health officials said a 19-year-old man was killed by Israeli fire. A spiral of violence has gripped the occupied territory since early 2022.
