Man fires gun near pro-Palestinian rally outside Chicago, another pepper-sprays crowd, police say

By TODD RICHMOND

Police in suburban Chicago arrested two people after a man allegedly fired a shot and the other pepper-sprayed pro-Palestinian demonstrators. The Chicago Sun-Times reported the episode took place Sunday near a banquet hall in Skokie, where about 1,000 people had gathered to show solidarity with Israel. A group of about 200 pro-Palestinian protesters staged their own rally near the hall. A man reportedly drove his car into the group, got out and fired a shot before police took him into custody. A witness said the man’s car had been covered in Israeli flags. A man wearing an Israeli flag as a cape later sprayed the crowd with pepper spray before he too was arrested.
