Anger boils in Morocco’s earthquake zone as protesters demand promised emergency aid

Associated Press

AMIZMIZ, Morocco (AP) — In a town near the epicenter of the earthquake that struck Morocco last month, residents are protesting as they await emergency aid and assistance. Many in the town of Amizmiz and the surrounding villages have relocated to tents after seeing their neighbors die and their homes leveled by the quake. Protest organizers said on Tuesday that the conditions in the tents were catastrophic and that there had been problems with how emergency cash aid was being distributed. Hundreds marched through the town waving Moroccan flags and chanting against the government.
