Reports: Troops arrive in El Paso to boost border security

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Associated Press is reporting that active duty military troops arrived in El Paso this evening.

AP reports that defense officials are calling this the "first batch" of forces deploying to the U.S./Mexico border.

Defense officials first announced that they would send troops to the southern border yesterday.

Additional troops are expected to deploy in the coming days, according to AP reports.
